Dubai expects its version of the Taj Mahal, called the Taj Arabia, to be completed in two years. It will be FOUR TIMES the size of the original.

Dubai has turned to India for inspiration for its latest construction mega-project, a massive replica of the Taj Mahal that’s being touted as an over-the-top wedding venue. The project, which surfaced in the press late last week, could take two years to construct and cost more than a billion dollars (£665 million), according to The Telegraph.

It's being marketed towards the hundreds of thousands of Indians who live in the UAE and surrounding countries, according to The Telegraph.

The Taj Arabia will feature a massive retail area geared towards brides and grooms.

Called the Taj Arabia, the Dubai version has little in common with the 17th century mausoleum apart from the facade. In addition to a wedding venue that holds 3,000 guests, it will feature a five-star hotel, residences, and massive retail space, according to its website.

and lounges...

And even a night club for post-wedding festivities.

and a spa...

The venue will have space for 3,000 guests.

The developers also plan to replicate the famed Mughal gardens around the original Taj.

The Taj Arabia will be located in the Falconcity of Wonders, a real estate project that will feature replicas of several wonders of the world, and is being developed by Link Global Ltd.
