If you are a space nerd and wanted to work for NASA, then look no further as the space agency wants your help to improve the bland food astronauts would have to eat while on a mission to Mars. All you have to do is for 120 days, eat astronaut food during a simulated trip to the Red Planet. You will be given instant foods, and ones with shelf-stable ingredients, and scientists will record their reactions. The goal of the experiment is to discover what foods people like to consume consistently. The research is being conducted along with Cornell University and University of Hawaii-Manoa .
If you want to do this gig then you must:
- Have a bachelor’s degree in engineering, biological or physical sciences, mathematics, or computer science with professional experience.
- Have never smoked any cigarettes or drugs
- Can speak English fluently
If you are one of the selected participants, then you will go through a two-week training mission and will be paid $5,000 upon successful completion of the mission. Round-trip travel, space food and lodging will be paid for by NASA. You can file the application here which is open until Feb. 29.
