Cell is a project the world saw a while back and realized I hadn’t shared here – it’s another creative, artistic use of Kinect that love. To quote the developers, James Alliban and Keiichi Matsuda
Cell was commissioned Alpha-ville for the 2011 festival, this interactive installation plays with and proposes alternative landscapes in the technological ether surrounding our everyday movements.
The result is a mesmerizing display that culls data from online profiles to create a display that reflects your online persona. It’s an artistic way to explore the blending of the physical and digitals worlds. Cell currently includes a series of fictional personas, one of which is applied to a user as they approach the installation – though I imagine it could be setup to allow you to connect to your actual online persona. That has some pretty interesting applications from a marketing and branding point of view.
