Microsoft’s Bing is going social savvy crazy there days. From the integration of Quora to Twitter and what not. Today’s it is adding something amazing to it’s platform once again using Facebook Photos and that can become a serious threat for Google social search.
Lets says you were looking for that epic shot from last winter’s ski trip? With more than 300 million photos uploaded to Facebook per day, photo viewing is one of the most popular things people do on Facebook. Bing now lets you quickly find that special photo (out of your friends’ thousands) on Facebook with the new Friends’ Photo feature. Now, with Bing, you can easily search and browse your friends’ photo collections–whether you’re looking for a specific moment, or just want to see what your friends have been up to at www.bing.com/friendsphotos.
Bing’s sidebar already shows you friends who have posted photos related to your search based on photo title, album description or caption, making it easy to find friends who might know about your search. Take for example, a search for Hawaii. With your friends’ likes and photos in sidebar, you can quickly see who to ask about the best accommodations or get great restaurant recommendations for your trip.
With today’s release, Bing is taking social search a step further and letting you search and browse your Facebook friends’ photos right in Bing. Now simply by clicking on a photo in the sidebar, you will be linked to a full experience on Bing where you can see more photos from your Facebook friends that match your search. From there, you can also search for additional photos, or simply browse the latest photos from your friends.
On the other hand a matter of privacy invasion might be popping up in your head, but Bing says that your Facebook friends will only be able to see the photos you have made viewable, and you will only see photos your friends have made viewable, and your photos will never be shared with the public.
