India Sets Up Internet Governance And Monitoring Committee

The government of India is looking to set up an inter-ministerial group (IMG) to monitor and look at the issues pertaining to the internet and it’s effect son the countries ministerial affairs.

The Press Trust of India (PTI) reported Wednesday the IMG is expected to be formed within a few weeks. India had sought the creation of a United Nations committee for Internet-related policies and Internet governance, bringing the proposal to the United Nations Commission for Science and Technology in May, the report said.

India’s Department of IT and Electronics said it is now in discussions with representatives from civil society groups, advocacy groups and industry associations to continue work on the proposal.
