The Invent, a nation-wide entrepreneurial challenge, organized by the Institute of Business Administration, Karachi every year, in a short span of three years has now become the leading student-level business plan competitions of Pakistan.
This year, the Invent 2013, is being launched with the theme ‘Ideas Today: Businesses Tomorrow”. The Invent is a kind of Business Plan Competition. The main objectives of it is to bring out and give a head start to the next generation of entrepreneurs, to promote inter universities/institutes collaboration, bridge the industry – academia gap and in general to promote Entrepreneurship and Innovation.
Invent introduced a number of revolutionary and unique concepts, such as extensive training and mentoring by industry experts, having multi-university and multi-disciplinary teams and has broken a number of myths such as that Business plan competitions are for business majors only. This is the reason that it received overwhelming response last year from all quarters with over 300 ideas proposed by over 2000 students registered from around 135 participating universities. Major corporations and individuals have contributed millions of rupees and supported the program over the last three years.
These organizations and individuals included Engro Corporation, Shell Tameer, Business Recorder Group; A&A Services, Aizaz Sarfraz, KASB Securities, Nasim Beg, NIT, TPL Trakker; Indus Motors, Lucky Cement, Lucky Tex, Millat Tactors, Silk Ban; Pak Elektron Ltd, Meskay & Femtee Trading Co, Arif Habib Corp, Int’l Complex Projects Limited, Arif Habib Investments, Pak Arab Fertilizers, JDW Sugar Mills, Mr. Shaukat Aziz, Pak Brunei Investment Company, The Anjum Sarfraz Memorial Trust, KASB, Matiari Sugar Mill, Davis Energen and many others who chose to remain anonymous assisting this noble cause.
