Pakistan is a country which has a unique history ranging from the presence of the early Indus Valley Civilization of Mohenjo-Daro to the Mughals and Lahore being the cultural hub of it had captured millions of hearts throughout its history. And to preserve that history and culture, the government of Punjab Pakistan has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Google for promoting the province’s rich heritage on the internet.
Singed at the Arfa Software Technology Park on Monday where by the information technology (IT) giant would provide access to historical and tourist sites of Punjab on the internet. The agreement was signed between Secretary Tourism Dr Allah Bakhsh Malik and William Fitzgerald of Google Asia, in the presence of Punjab Chief Minister Mohammad Shahbaz Sharif, Provincial Finance Minister Kamran Michael, Chairman Planning & Development, Secretary Irrigation, Chairman Information Technology Board and representatives of Google.
Shahbaz Sharif, the chief minister of Punjab said that agreement like these act as a bridge to smoothen the image of Pakistan as a failed and a terrorist state in the eyes of the modern world and will promote tourism, brining in more jobs for many industries such as hotels, antiques and travel.
Punjab being the largest province of Pakistan has a rich history and if promoted correctly with the help of Google, it can pave a way for other parts of the country such as its northern areas and deserts like thar.
