Google Is Being Punched On The Face, Nose And The Head For Its Social Search+ [Video]

Yesterday we covered about how Twitter and Google are slap fighting based on Google’s new social search 2.0 release on Tuesday which primarily indexes more of Google’s own Google+ social network and shows it within the top results. Twitter’s General Counsel Alexander Macgillivray provides apparently damning evidence for why Search+ is unfair and how Google+ content is being promoted instead of the most relevant results.

In his tweet, (picture above) he searches for World Wrestling Entertainment Twitter handler ”@wwe” which in conjunction returns 5 Google+ results above the fold, but no sign of Twitter and nor even Facebook. Even on the right hand side contextual Google+ profiles are being shown.

As Marketing Land’s Danny Sullivan interviewed Google Executive Chairman Eric Schmidt at the CES, he says that Google is open to talking with Twitter and Facebook about expanded access to their data.

Not only twitter is attacking, but media companies are attacking that being of NewYork Times and even EPIC (The Federal Trade Commission) is looking into the matter.

What do you think, is Google+ on the path to become the new Google Buzz? Leave us your comment…

Twitter And Google Get Into A Slap Fight Based On Google’s New Social Search 2.0 Launch

Yesterday Google started rolling out its brand new feature of integrating Google+ more deeply into search. The internet has reacted out some saying it is good and some saying its evil and of those later ones is twitter, which completely hates that Google is boosting its own social network than providing search in general.

Earlier today the company’s General Counsel Alex Macgillivray, called it “A bad day for the Internet”. Here’s the full statement from Twitter.

For years, people have relied on Google to deliver the most relevant results anytime they wanted to find something on the Internet.

Often, they want to know more about world events and breaking news. Twitter has emerged as a vital source of this real-time information, with more than 100 million users sending 250 million Tweets every day on virtually every topic. As we’ve seen time and time again, news breaks first on Twitter; as a result, Twitter accounts and Tweets are often the most relevant results.

We’re concerned that as a result of Google’s changes, finding this information will be much harder for everyone. We think that’s bad for people, publishers, news organizations and Twitter users.

Now for some insights of what the hell is going on. Google used to have a deal with Twitter whereby Tweets would appear as part of Google’s real-time results. These would sometimes be visible within the results page for a timely query on Google, such as breaking news. This was due to a partnership between Google and Twitter that terminated in July 2011, and was not renewed.

With the launch of Google’s social search 2.0 only and preferably Google+ results would be visible on top when breaking news appears. Now that’s bad for twitter and its traffic. And that’s why Twitter is hating Google so much right now and that’s publicly slapping them.

And when you just were thinking that there was no response from Google, they just posted this response to its official Google+ Page:

We are a bit surprised by Twitter’s comments about Search plus Your World, because they chose not to renew their agreement with us last summer (http://goo.gl/chKwi), and since then we have observed their rel=nofollow instructions.

So do you think Google is doing good to the internet? Leave us your comments..
