Bing Gains 10% marketshare – Reaching towards Google…

According to ComScore and qSearch, Microsoft’s retaliation against Google search, Bing has gained significant market share reaching out close to 10% market share of U.S. searches, thats 2 large points in five months.

Clearly Microsoft must be doing something right.

The good part coming from it’s recent deals with twitter and Facebook and then going on towards nutritional data search integration with Wolfram Alpha.

The loser here is of course Yahoo search which has lost 3 percent market share since last year. But on a positive note search is getting more better and competitive rather than just being Google.

Yahoo lost more than Bing won and Google won marketshare from Yahoo, too – so given Microsofts collaboration with yahoo, this article should rather read “google takes marketshare from Microsoft+Yahoo” (btw. this makes the statement “Clearly Microsoft must be doing something right” quite hilarious…)

I’m confused… how does Bing gaining 2 percentage points of market share in 5 months constitute a Good Thing for Microsoft? Doesn’t it more likely show that Bing adoption is leveling off rather drastically?? It’s new, and novelty value alone should drive it higher faster than that!!!

Well Bing has had feature updates such as fantastic image and video search. Then announcing the integration with twitter and facebook portryaing that the search era is now going to be more social. Google in competition announced twitter tweet integration via its social search days after bing announced it but as Google said it themselves Google Social Search is down
The point of two % market share rising, yes it has risen people are trying to get more analytical data rather than pure linked data, i am not taking sides of Google or Bing but rather progress and quick rate of adaption and execution
2 Points take years but it took 5 months so thats improvement in general

Bing gains 10 % market-share ? Perhaps, if one chooses to believe accounts seemingly designed to keep Microsoft shareholders from panicking, but StatCounter’s more sober stats (http://preview.tinyurl.com/ycqnpwl ) would seem to indicate that in the US, Bing’s market share has been fluctuating around 7-8 % since the beginning of August….

It’s helpful being able to find what my friends on? Twitter and Facebook are talking about a topic I am searching for without having to waste my time on either social site looking at off topic communication.I love networking sites but I really don’t care what you just ate. Only getting what I want from my coworkers is going to make them more valuable to me and keep me from getting sidetracked when I am trying to get real work done.

  10. Great article. There’s a lot of good data here, though I did want to let you know something – I am running Ubuntu with the latest beta of Firefox, and the layout of your blog is kind of quirky for me. I can read the articles, but the navigation doesn’t work so great.

Nice dispatch and this enter helped me alot in my college assignement. Gratefulness you for your information.

  12. finally, this is what I’ve been looking for. thanks for the hard work and time you put in to provide this information to us, keep up the good work.

  13. Zune and iPod: Most people compare the Zune to the Touch, but after seeing how slim and surprisingly small and light it is, I consider it to be a rather unique hybrid that combines qualities of both the Touch and the Nano. It’s very colorful and lovely OLED screen is slightly smaller than the touch screen, but the player itself feels quite a bit smaller and lighter. It weighs about 2/3 as much, and is noticeably smaller in width and height, while being just a hair thicker.

  14. Very interesting blog post I enjoy your site keep up the amazing posts

  18. Hey I just wanted to let you know, I actually like the composition on your website. But I am using Flock on a machine running version 9.04 of Xubuntu and the look and feel aren’t quite satisfactory. Not a strong deal, I can still fundamentally read the articles and search for information, but just wanted to inform you about that. The navigation bar is kind of hard to apply with the config I’m running. Keep up the great work!

  19. This is getting a bit more subjective, but I much prefer the Zune Marketplace. The interface is colorful, has more flair, and some cool features like ‘Mixview’ that let you quickly see related albums, songs, or other users related to what you’re listening to. Clicking on one of those will center on that item, and another set of “neighbors” will come into view, allowing you to navigate around exploring by similar artists, songs, or users. Speaking of users, the Zune “Social” is also great fun, letting you find others with shared tastes and becoming friends with them. You then can listen to a playlist created based on an amalgamation of what all your friends are listening to, which is also enjoyable. Those concerned with privacy will be relieved to know you can prevent the public from seeing your personal listening habits if you so choose.
